home about us the gite availability meet your hosts reviews gallery contact come and stay in the bordeaux wine region holiday gite in blaye cotes de bordeaux appellation our gite is available from april to october about us we have been offering our guests the very best holiday gîte experience since 2003 in the wine region of blaye. this is our raison d'être........... our philosophy; to give you the most personal of service from the moment that you book your holiday with us until you leave to return home. every booking is followed up, 8 weeks before you arrive, with an information booklet of 30 pages which gives lots of local information to help you plan your holiday. when you arrive duncan will come down and give you any help you may need to finalise your plans for your stay. this means that your first day with us is not spent trying to find out about the area but that you 'hit the ground running'! history, wine, empty beaches, seafood, culture; nouvelle-aquitaine has it all................ peaceful, quiet, restful ... we spent many years holidaying in france before we finally moved here in 2002 and every time we rented a holiday gîte we always came home saying "we could do better". so, we set ourselves the task and in may 2003 our first guests arrived. since then we have been able to welcome people from more than 19 countries, many returning for more peace and quiet year on year. they benefit from a return guest discount of 10%. our visitors books are filled with over 180 positive reviews from our guests and include many helpful hints on where to eat and what to see... the gite our gite has everything you need to enjoy your time in blaye and the surrounding area. gite layout the floorplan above shows the gite layout of the ground floor and mezzanine. click on the image for a better look. lounge all the mod-cons required are available with uk tv channels etc. bedroom the mezzanine bedroom sleeps two people. bathroom the bathroom is also on the mezzanine and features a shower. swimming pool swimming pool available. garden lots of space to run around! surrounding area so much to see and experience. all walking driving photography local walking & cycling the area around the gîte is fairly flat and there are lots of possible walks that you can enjoy from a 1½ km stroll around the local vines to more challenging walks and cycle rides. maps are available in the information draws in the gîte. driving forget the pressures of the uk roads, ours are mostly empty and pleasing to drive on. parking in blaye is free and there are no traffic lights within a 40 km radius! photography duncan is the vice president of the photo club of the estuary based in st.androny. he has had many photographs published in papers and magazines as well as exhibiting as an individual and as part of the club. courses for fist time and intermediate photographers are available. see your information booklets for details. local duncan can arrange visits to many of the local winemakers who speak english. you will be warmly welcomed and will be given the chance to try the various wines that they produce. markets on saturday and wednesday are not to be missed and our car ferry to the médoc opens up the whole of the 49 mile long beach. sun, sand & surfing - what more could you possibly want! the garden is beautiful with places to sit in either the shade or sun. surrounded by vineyards our visit to nathalie at le taillou was one of our holiday highlights. the gîte is ideal for visiting cognac and the bordeaux area. take the ferry from blaye and explore the medoc. we can absolutely recommend le tastevin. thank you duncan!
